## About the Job Knightdale Horse Sports is a brick-and-mortar retail store and a mobile tack shop serving all disciplines for everyday equestrians, occasional equestrians, and equestrians at heart! We carry quality, safe, affordable tack, supplies, and clothing in new, upcycled, exchanged and consignment options.  We offer an array of services and pride ourselves on world class customer service!  All are welcome at Knightdale Horse Sports and it is our mission to make equestrian sports accessible.  Our mobile tack trailer serves local, family-friendly, underserved lesson barns and community events.  We sponsor 4-H, local barrel racing associations, cowboy mounted shooting, dressage & eventing, hunter barns, college teams, IEA, reining & ranch riding, trail riding clubs, hunting clubs, jumper barns, foundations, breed specific events, etc.  If it has 4 legs and a forelock, Knightdale Horse Sports is interested! ## Responsibilities Full-time hours, management responsibilities for a staff of 4-6 employees, and customer service focus.  The store manager position is heavily supported by the store owners who help with ordering inventory, managing vendors, scheduling events, maintaining the website, marketing and staffing.  This is an independent contributor position and decision maker level with input highly valued by the store owner who works a full-time career outside of the store to make sure the bills keep getting paid!  The owner has a solid philosophy that our store managers need autonomy but also support from us.  We have found a nice balance and are growing our businesses with the feel of a family business without all the drama; our business is made up of the family we choose, not necessarily the family we grew up with!  ## Requirements Ability to multitask, delegate, and manage all aspects of a retail store.  Ability to provide world class customer service to horse owners, professionals, beginners, and parents of lesson kids alike.  A solid background in several equestrian disciplines and the ability to speak to all horse sports whether based in English or Western tack and at any level.  Ability to drive a truck and mobile tack trailer as well as physically capable of setting up the tack trailer at horse shows and everything that horse shows and events entails! ## Pay and Benefits Base salary of $20 per hour ($30 per hour for overtime hours).  Pay increases and bonus opportunities based on store performance with no cap.  Paid time off including 6-10 paid holidays per year plus 1-week of PTO after the first year of employment increasing by one day each year up to 2 full weeks of PTO.  Retirement 401(k) Plan with up to 4% company match.  And employee discount on all goods and services at 10% above cost to keep your horse habit going strong!

## About the Job Full time June thru August, can run longer (FT OR PT) into Oct. Mostly Wrangling and Packing. Stock care & feeding. Other various duties such as firewood, hauling/stacking hay, trail clearing, etc., as needed or requested. ## Responsibilities Stay at trailhead & care for stock. Meet guests & interact with them. Catch & saddle mounts. Make up loads & load pack animals ( typically just 1 or 2 unless helping with larger pack trip). Put guests on their mounts & take them & the pack animals 8 miles to Backcountry lodge. (Or the reverse - take stock to lodge to bring guests out). May need to lead long "empty" strings one way or the other. May assist with pack trips or other packing as needed. ## Requirements Must have experience in caring for stick, catching, saddling, making up loads & slinging them, leading pack string etc. Also, interacting with guests, leading trail rides on your own in a safe and enjoyable manner.
